The word for today is WINDY (blusterous, Gusty, blowy) it was very strong and times almost blew me over. The trucks when they past us the gust would move my helmet. It was also cool boarding on cold. It bothered me enough that i decided to stop and put. wind breaker on. That stopped my shivers and at least made a little move comfortable. I then convinced Dianne to put her coat on too. In addition to the wind we a several rain drops and heard thunder and saw lightening a couple of time. I was sure we would get wet but currently have not.
Yesterday’s hotel was poor broken dresser holes in the wall and needed new paint. However it was clean so it worked out. The restaurant down the street was great. Today’s hotel is great on the inside a little questionable on the outside. But the town does not have a restaurant at all, the advise being given is to go the gas station and have some pizza there.
The route left the town of Umatalli passed through Walla Walla, Dayton and we stopped at Pomeroy in Washington State. Tomorrow the owner here tells me will go though the LoLo pass and into Montana. We went east on HWY 730 and then got on HWY 12 for the rest of the ride.
Fort Walla Walla was built to provide training grounds for men and to supply timber and hay in the late 1800. It closed in 1910 but did some artillery training for world war 1. Dayton was home to the green Giant factory years backs.
The spare gas tank was rubbing my back and causing a lot o pain so rotated it was shorter then stuffed a jacket between it and my back and found the ride a lot more comfortable.
Stuff to think about todah:
Manh more trucks than cars (and I do mean big trucks)
2 large logging trucks (They tend to pass why too close and wah too fast)
Saw 7 rocks signs (often just when the last distance we traveled was passed IE rocks 7 miles, then at 7 miles Rocks 5 miles)
more dump trucks with onions in them
Gas stations without restrooms. I hope this trend stops there just are not rest stops on the road!
14 motorcycles on the road most waved to me
andothne 2 mile one lane construction zon again
Well time for me to plan the route and work on some repairs
Allan
